Each altitude ring uses the same colour as aircraft at that height. Actual range is the furthest position received from aircraft below that altitude, smoothed with the altitudes just above it so aircraft near the ring height pull the line outward (the closer to the ring, the stronger the pull); the outer All ring includes every aircraft, ground traffic, and flights above the highest ring. It updates live and accumulates across flights; unobserved directions stay empty. Guessed range is only an estimate, so actual reception beyond it is normal. In 3D, each ring is drawn at its own height above sea level.
